One Day Food & Wine Tours

Once you’re in Puglia, why not join us for a one-day food and wine tour of Martina Franca, one of the region’s most beautiful small towns and leading culinary hotspots?

Half-day and one-day tours are perfect if you're in the area and want to experience the area's food traditions, meet local food artisans and step behind the scenes for once-in-a-lifetime encounters with the heart and soul of Puglia. Along the way, you’ll learn about southern Italian culture, traditions and modern interpretations of centuries-old customs.

We meet in a classic caffè for a morning cappuccino and house-made pastries, then proceed on foot through the charming baroque town of Martina Franca to observe cheese makers preparing the day's fresh mozzarella and ricotta. After a stop at a wood-fired bakery for some hand-on focaccia and semolina bread preparation, we'll stop in at the local farmer's market to learn about the unique varieties of wild and cultivated vegetables that grace the tables of this part of Italy. We also visit a cured meat specialist (capocollo, anyone?) in his kitchen. Did we mention that there would be snacks?

Full day tour participants continue on to a classic, multi-course Puglia-style lunch with wine pairings, followed by a visit to Martina Franca’s architectural monuments tucked away in the historic town center’s labyrinthian streets.

The price of the eight-hour tour (includes food artisan visits, snacks, multi-course lunch, wine and an afternoon cultural walking tour) is $195 per person. An abbreviated four-hour tour (lots of tastes—so much food!) is $125 per person.

Tours are conducted by locals who speak Italian and English fluently. If you schedule your tour at the beginning of your Puglia vacation, we’ll give you all our best tips for the rest of your stay.
